Kafka Administrator

Contract Duration: 8+ Months

• Bachelor's degree;
  Master's degree preferred.
• 6+ years of infrastructure engineering experience using Confluent Kafka.
• Expert in installing and maintaining Confluent Platform components including Apache Kafka, Confluent Control Center, Confluent Schema Registry, connectors, Confluent Replicator, and Confluent Security Plugins.
• Strong administration experience for Confluent Kafka.
• Strong scripting skills preferred (Ansible, Bash, Python) for infrastructure automation. Strongly prefer AI-related Python experience as future needs may arise.
• Experience administering Event-Driven Architecture Components:
  Apache Kafka, Kafka Brokers, Zookeeper, Confluent Control Center, Confluent Schema Registry, Connect cluster, etc.
• Experience performing Confluent Platform installation, upgrades, and maintenance.
• Experience in managing large-scale multi-node Kafka cluster environments.
• Expertise in scripting technologies:
  Shell or Python for software automation.
• Experience working or leading requirements gathering for multiple large development projects simultaneously.
• Experience performing Confluent Platform installation, upgrades, and maintenance.
• Flexibility and ability to work a rotating on-call schedule monthly.

• Provide Level 3 (L3) Production Support, Engineering, and User Onboarding to Kafka.
• Analyze and identify existing Production issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Implement and use monitoring and observability tools, including Splunk, Grafana, App Dynamics, JMX, to ensure system health and performance is measured.
• Identify problem causality, business impact and root causes
• Document requirements for complex, high-impact application enhancements and problem resolution.
• Identify risks, vulnerabilities, and security issues; communicate impact and propose risk mitigation options.
• Utilize ticketing tools such as JIRA, Service Now for issue tracking and collaboration.
• Plan and execute existing Middleware Integrations to Kafka, with minimal disruption and optimal performance.
