Ocean Import Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Ocean Import Specialist to join our growing logistics team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end import process for ocean freight shipments, ensuring timely and accurate movement of cargo while delivering exceptional customer service.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, effectively manage multiple priorities, and maintain strong communication with clients, carriers, vendors, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and process ocean import shipments from origin to final delivery.
• Enter and maintain shipment data accurately in company systems.
• Arrange routing, booking, tracking, and tracing of import shipments.
• Monitor shipment progress and proactively communicate updates to customers.
• Respond promptly to customer, carrier, and agent inquiries via phone and email.
• Coordinate documentation and ensure compliance with import regulations and company procedures.
• Resolve shipment issues, delays, and discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintain accurate shipment records and provide status updates as needed.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, and business partners.
• Handle high-volume accounts while ensuring exceptional service levels.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in ocean import operations, freight forwarding, or international logistics required.
• Strong knowledge of ocean freight import processes and documentation.
• Experience with shipment tracking, booking, routing, and customer communication.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and transportation management systems.
• Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
