You will create, grade and refine manual patterns for a complex apparel range, working closely with the production team so that every pattern translates into a well-fitting, well-finished garment that can be made efficiently.
Key responsibilities- Draft and cut manual patterns for complex apparel, including jackets, outerwear, trousers and other multi-panel, detailed garments
- Grade patterns across the full size range
- Develop patterns for new styles from samples, sketches or specifications
- Adjust and correct patterns after sample fittings and production feedback
- Maintain accuracy and consistency of markers and pattern lay plans to keep fabric wastage low
- Work with intricate construction details such as pockets, panelling, linings, closures, trims and decorative elements
- Keep an organised, up-to-date pattern library
- Liaise with the factory floor to resolve fit and construction issues quickly
- Proven experience as a manual pattern maker, ideally in apparel or clothing manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of pattern drafting, grading and garment construction
- Experience with complex, technical or structured garments is essential
- Experience working with a variety of fabrics and trims is an advantage
- A sharp eye for detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and to deadlines
- Own reliable transport, or the ability to get to Hammarsdale on your working days
- Formal pattern making or fashion/clothing technology qualification advantageous, but experience carries the most weight
- A set 2-3 day working week, ideal for an experienced pattern maker who wants flexibility
- A stable, long-standing manufacturer with a good reputation in the industry
- R15,000 per month
