Job Summary and QualificationsThe Labor & Delivery RN coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the department requirements and applicable standards. In collaboration with medical providers and the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage. The RN serves as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers and supports the organization’s mission and values to deliver an exceptional patient experience and clinical outcomes.
Whatyou will do in this role
- Assesses patient condition during admission and each shift as scheduled or as needed; reports changes in status.
- Assesses patient environment for safety risks and regulatory compliance.
- Assesses pain regularly and reassesses after interventions to promote effective pain management.
- Assesses for signs of abuse or neglect and reports to the appropriate personnel.
- Performs procedures and monitoring as ordered; documents care in the patient record in a timely and thorough manner.
- Administers prescribed medications; monitors therapeutic response; notifies the provider and intervenes as needed for adverse responses.
- Responds promptly to patient requests and anticipates needs to provide exceptional care.
- Educates patients/families/caregivers about medical conditions, status, treatment plans, medications, side effects, and follow-up measures; translates complex terminology as needed.
- Educates on non-medicinal follow-up measures such as healthy lifestyle changes.
- Manages a care team, providing oversight and delegation as appropriate.
- Engages in evidence-based practices and continuous process improvement to meet quality goals.
- Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate, evaluate, and deliver holistic patient treatment plans.
- Interfaces with community support systems to coordinate ongoing care needs for specialized patient groups.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of start date
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 30 days of start date
- Neonate Resuscitation (NRP) within 90 days of start date
- RN – Registered Nurse
- Associate Degree
