The Licensed Vocational Nurse provides basic medical care to patients under the supervision of RNs/Physicians. The LVN Nurse advocates for patient safety and protocol integrity, adheres to nursing standards, and communicates effectively to ensure effective conduct of clinical trials and quality patient care.

• Obtain, monitor, and document vital signs to include pulse, blood pressure, temperature, respiratory rate, height, and weight.
• Confirm and document fasting status.
• Obtain and document pain scale and fatigue scale.
• Access, flush, and deaccess central venous access devices using aseptic technique.
• Obtain peripheral venous access using aseptic technique.
• Obtain clinical labs and study-specific specimens according to the patient’s schedule and protocol guidelines.
• Obtain good quality ECGs according to the patient’s schedule and protocol guidelines.
• Collect and review medication lists and diaries as appropriate.
• Assist RNs/Physicians with procedures or examinations.
• Prepare laboratory requisitions and supplies.
• Maintain cleanliness of draw stations and work areas.
• Inventory and request supplies as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.

• IV and venous access device management skills.

• Current BLS/ACLS certification (ACLS preferred).
• Current Texas Licensed Vocational Nurse license.
