Install, repair, and maintain food service equipment.
Education / Certification- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Texas Class C driver's license and proof of insurability with District insurance carrier
- Universal Refrigerant Recovery License
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Working knowledge of installing and repairing commercial kitchen and mechanical equipment
- Ability to read and analyze schematic diagrams
- Effective organizational, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills
- Ability to utilize technology resources relevant to position
Three years of commercial food service repair equipment or related experience.
Major Responsibilities And Duties Maintenance and Repair- Diagnose causes of malfunctions to HVACR and HVAC systems.
- Assemble, adjust, inspect, align and calibrate commercial food preparation equipment.
- Implement and maintain a preventative maintenance program on all related equipment.
- Interpret schematic diagrams for equipment installations.
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues; and observe mechanical devices in operation and diagnose causes of malfunctions.
- Dismantle devices, repair or replace failed components or systems in a skilled and safe manner; and install special functional and structural parts in devices.
- Work closely with outside contractors on major repair jobs.
- Respond in a timely manner when contacted regarding urgent situations or emergencies (during or outside of normal business hours).
- Initiate price quotes and purchase orders for parts and machines.
- Maintain detailed records and cost projections and report information to supervisor.
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible; and serve as role model for staff and public.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Inspect tools, machines and equipment for safety and efficiency, and operate according to established safety procedures. Follow safety procedures and techniques to perform duties, including lifting, and climbing. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
- Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidents immediately to supervisor, and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.

Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving. Lifting and carrying up to 55 pounds without assistance, more than 55 pounds with appropriate assistance, on a daily basis. Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven surfaces; may work on rooftops; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic, chemicals and materials, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards;
work around machinery with moving parts; work in tight or enclosed spaces; may work alone; may work irregular and prolonged hours; frequent district wide travel. Maintain emotional control under stress.
