What You Will Do- Competent to perform all programming, project management, and development assignments without close supervision; normally assigned the more complex aspects of systems work.
- Work directly on complex application/technical problem identification and resolution, including responding to off‑shift and weekend support calls.
- Work independently on complex systems or infrastructure components that may be used by one or more applications or systems.
- Drive application development focused around delivering valuable business features.
- Mentor and assist software engineers, providing technical assistance and direction as needed.
- Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits.
- Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team.
- Guide the team to develop structured application/interface code, new program documentation, operations documentation, and user guides in a casual, flexible environment.
- Communicate with end users and internal customers to help direct development, debugging, and testing of application software for accuracy, integrity, interoperability, and completeness.
- Perform integrated testing and customer acceptance testing of components that require careful planning and execution to ensure timely, quality results.
- Perform other job duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time to time.
- Manage the completion of its own work assignments and coordinate work with others. Based on past experiences and knowledge, the Lead Mobile Software Engineer normally works independently with minimal management input and review of end results.
- Software Product Design/Architecture:
Knowledge of software product design; ability to convert market requirements into software product design. - Software Product Technical Knowledge:
Knowledge of technical aspects of a software product; ability to design, configure and integrate technical aspects of software products. - Effective Communications:
Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. - Decision Making and Critical Thinking:
Knowledge of the decision‑making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience creating mobile applications using mobile frameworks such as React Native in both iOS/Android systems.
- Extensive experience in software development frameworks such as Java, JavaScript, React, SQL, Web Services and other related object‑oriented software development technologies and frameworks.
- Experience leading cross‑platform mobile application development teams.
- Preferred experience supporting eCommerce mobile development projects.
- Demonstrated leadership on medium to large‑scale projects impacting strategic priorities.
- Understanding of mobile application performance optimization techniques.
- Experience with deploying software using CI/CD tools such as Azure Dev Ops, Git Hub Actions.
- Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams including product managers, backend engineers and designers.
- Experience with agile development methodologies.
- Experience writing unit tests, integration tests.
