Responsibilities
Duties include repairing and maintaining street infrastructure; setting up safety and traffic control systems for repair work; cleaning, servicing and maintaining assigned tools, machinery, equipment and vehicles; using basic equipment to perform repairs, e.g. jackhammer, rakes, and/or shovels; serving as a flagger to direct traffic around work zones; and removing refuse and debris from rights-of-way, medians and embankments.
QualificationsSix months of related experience; ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance; basic computer skills; a valid Class C Texas driver’s license; and possess (or be able to obtain within six months) a valid Class A Texas Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
Normal hours are Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., but schedule will also include some after-hours, weekends and holidays.
Pay GradePAY GRADE GG10 / FULL PAY RANGE $17.60 - $24.81 PER HOUR
About the Transportation DepartmentThe Transportation Department operates and maintains the city’s streets and traffic control devices. The department is split into two divisions:
Streets and Traffic.
Streets Division

Provides safe and well‑maintained streets, alleys, sidewalks, and drainage facilities for the use of citizens and residents.
Traffic Division
:
Plans, operates, and maintains the transportation systems within the city of Irving in a safe, efficient, and proactive manner.
