CHARTS invites applications from confident, experienced artists skilled in public engagement to deliver Gaelic-language workshop events exploring heritage and environmental themes through art to undertake Ceanglan Chaluim Chille, a 5 day Artist In Residence Opportunity on Mull.
This role requires someone who conveys energy and enthusiasm about Gaelic language and culture through their work, plans work effectively and uses sensitivity, initiative and problem-solving skills to drive successful outcomes.
Summary of the Role
The artist will be required to:
- Lead creative, community-focused workshops in Gaelic, with English translation support.
- Engage with local groups, especially young people.
- Undertake a 5 day residency, which includes 1 preparation day and 1 follow-up day and a 3 day residency hosted at KNOCKvologan Studio.
- Host activities on Argyll’s Islands, activities may be held at KNOCKvologan Studio, and potentially on Iona.
Who We're Looking For:
- Argyll-based artist or artist with a meaningful connection to Argyll with 3-5 years of public engagement experience.
- Conversational Competence in Gaelic.
- PVG clearance (required).
- Degree in arts/heritage or equivalent relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge of Argyll and Bute, especially Mull.
- Passion for Gaelic culture and environmental themes
