Specialist Basement & Structural Engineering Contractor

£70,000 – £80,000 + benefits
The Opportunity
An established specialist contractor with over 30 years’ experience is seeking a talented Preconstruction Engineer to join its growing team in West London.
The business delivers technically complex basement, structural, and enabling works packages across high-end residential developments throughout London, with project values typically reaching £15m. Known for its expertise in constrained urban environments, the company has built an outstanding reputation for innovative temporary works solutions and advanced ground engineering techniques.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a pivotal role in the early stages of challenging projects, working closely with technical and delivery teams from concept through to construction.
Key Responsibilities
* Support preconstruction activities on complex basement and structural engineering projects
* Develop construction methodologies, sequencing strategies, and buildability solutions
* Contribute technical input relating to temporary works and ground engineering
* Assist with early-stage cost planning, programme development, and risk analysis
* Coordinate with consultants, design teams, and operational staff throughout the preconstruction phase
* Prepare and manage tender submissions and support smooth project handovers to delivery teams
About you
* Experience with in preconstruction, project engineering, or civil/structural engineering environments
* Background in basement construction, structural works, geotechnical, or ground engineering projects
* Strong understanding of construction sequencing, logistics, and buildability considerations
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and collaborate effectively with design teams
* Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience
* Strong communication and organisational skills with a proactive approach
