• Help our visitors stay safe and healthy when using our wet facilities
• Create a friendly, relaxed, and professional environment
• Ensure everyone who arrives at our centres enjoys a warm welcome and efficient service
• Stay attentive and alert at all times
• Pay close attention to safety and respond to incidents immediately
• Qualified lifeguards carry out pool testing and other health and safety checks, and supervise the pool in accordance with RLSS standards and site operation procedures

• National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (Royal Life Saving Society) or equivalent
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience delivering first‑class customer service
• Willingness to work variable hours, breight. evenings and weekends

Don’t have an NPLQ? We are running our next course on Monday 16 February to Friday 20 February 2026 at Hanworth Leisure Centre. Following the Royal Life Saving Society UK’s programme, we will provide you with all the skills and knowledge needed to become a certified lifeguard. The NPLQ covers all aspects of pool rescue techniques, lifeguarding theory, first aid and CPR.

The course is physically demanding and includes swimming to set times, lifting casualties, and diving to the deepest part of the pool. Training and assessment are in three sections; candidates must pass all to attain the qualification.

Every candidate attending a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) must be 16‑years‑old or above at the time of the final assessment and be able to:

• Jump/dive into deep water тээрэм️
• Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds
• Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water
• Tread water for 30 seconds
• Surface dive to the floor of the pool
• Climb out unaided without ladder or steps where the pool design permits

Our NPLQ costs £270 including assessment fees. Depending on business needs, we may fund your training.

• A minimum commitment of 40 hours per week is required, with a learning agreement in place.
