Health and Care Jersey is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic substantive Consultant in Neurology. The successful applicant will provide services in Neurology in conjunction with an Acute Medicine Consultant, a Neurology Middle Grade, and a Neurosurgical Clinical Fellow.

• Jointly develop a service of excellence for neurology, ensuring seamless integration between Jersey and tertiary centres in England.
• Participate in developing the neurology strategy for Jersey.
• Work in close partnership and liaison with Primary Care and other specialist services.
• Undertake inpatient specialist reviews for neurology.
• Lead outpatient clinics for neurology.
• Provide clinical advice & support to primary care colleagues and other consultants within the Health and Care Jersey medical model.
• Deliver personalised, evidence‑informed medical care plans to all patients, appropriately documented and regularly evaluated.
• Provide advice and timely medical reviews and interventions as part of the interdisciplinary care model.
• Participate in relevant MDTs.
• Liaise with tertiary referral centres to improve patient‑centred care and service delivery.
• Maintain high‑quality medical records, including timely discharge letters and summaries.

The post is linked to the regional Neurosciences Centre at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust and to Queens Square, London.

Key responsibilities include:

• Clinical governance and continuing medical education participation.
• Close collaboration with the Clinical Director and Chief of Service.
• Contribution to on‑going care development and medical management.
• Education of junior doctors, nursing staff and allied health professionals.
• Participation in management and audit activities.
• Risk management and governance representation.
• Teaching and research support.

Represent the service at hospital meetings and the Care Group Leadership team.

Support governance agenda, risk management programmes and public health planning.

Participate in teaching medical students and junior doctors. Support clinical fellows recruited to Health and Care Jersey.

Specialist facilities include an Acute Assessment Unit, Enhanced Care Area, Ambulatory Emergency Care unit, Clinical Investigations Department, Endoscopy suite, Diabetes Centre, Renal/Dialysis unit, and isolation area.

• Primary Medical Degree.
• Higher specialty qualification: MRCP or equivalent.
• Full registration with GMC, with a licence to practice.
• Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register/Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) within six months of interview.
• Clinical experience in a similar NHS environment.>

• Evidence of CCDC training and/or experience.
• Broad IT skills.
