Empowering Learning Ltd is seeking a dedicated SEND / SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Islington, London. We welcome applications from recent sports graduates who are passionate about making a difference for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) or Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
You will support students both academically and emotionally, helping to create a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment where every child can thrive. Your background in sports is a bonus, bringing energy, teamwork, and engagement to your interactions with students.
Key Requirements
- Graduate in Sports or related field (recent graduates encouraged)
- Passionate about working with SEND / SEMH learners
- Experience supporting children or young people in education or care settings is desirable but not essential
- Confident in assisting students with learning, social development, and emotional wellbeing
- Willing to provide personal care when required
Job Responsibilities
- Supporting SEND / SEMH students individually and in small groups
- Assisting teachers with lesson planning, preparation, and delivery
- Encouraging student participation, engagement, and independence
- Supervising children both inside and outside the classroom
- Contributing positively to students' social, emotional, and academic development
