Job Description
AECOM is seeking a senior, strategic, and technically qualified professional with proven experience in the Italian energy sector to Lead and Grow the Energy business in Italy. This position combines market development, client relationship management, and technical leadership in engineering and environmental services aimed at key players in the energy sector.
The Energy Leader will be responsible for:
Understanding market trends and client needs.
Strengthening the company's network in the energy sector.
Leading team growth and AECOM's strategic positioning in Italy.
The focus will be on innovative projects in renewable energy production, energy transmission and distribution, storage solutions, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and energy transition.
Main Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Lead, manage and grow our energy business in Italy.
Drive project delivery excellence, ensuring projects are completed on time, on budget, and with high-quality results.
Collaborate and work together with our Energy Sector teams across Europe.
Develop and implement a business strategy to strengthen AECOM’s presence in the Italian energy market.
Coordinate multidisciplinary teams (engineering, permitting, environmental) and interact with national and international stakeholders.
Drive a culture where AECOM is recognised as a great place to work, promoting staff engagement and retention.
Attract new talent and lead strategic and senior recruitment.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement
Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing innovative solutions to meet their energy needs and sustainability goals.
Manage strategic relationships with key clients: utilities, developers, independent power producers (IPP), investment funds, and EPC contractors.
Business Development
Identify and pursue new business opportunities, leveraging AECOM’s global expertise and local market knowledge.
Prepare technical and economic proposals for public and private tenders, in synergy with management.
Monitor the evolution of Italian regulatory and legislative frameworks, anticipating trends and market opportunities.
Provide strategic insights to position AECOM as a leader in energy transition and sustainability.
Actively participate in institutional round tables, industry events, and international initiatives.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in engineering (preferably in Energy, Environmental, or Electrical Engineering) and registration with the Order of Engineers.
At least 10 years of experience in the energy sector:
Renewable energy production (wind, solar, hydroelectric, biomass, etc.).
Energy transport and distribution (electricity grids, smart grids, etc.).
Storage systems (batteries, hydrogen, thermal storage, etc.).
Business development activities, including market analysis, offer development, and customer relationship management.
Fluent in Italian and English;
Knowledge of other languages is an advantage.
In-depth knowledge of the Italian market, including authorization processes, grid connections, and incentive mechanisms.
Excellent leadership skills, team management, and results orientation.
