Job Description:
Quality Engineer - Italy
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring process and product compliance with quality standards defined by railway regulations, customer specifications, and company standards, ensuring compliance with contractual and project requirements. This position contributes to continuous process improvement, supports operational and technical functions, and participates in certification, audit, and validation activities. The Quality Engineer must be precise, methodical, and have excellent advanced problem‑solving skills, capable of managing timelines and emergencies, collaborating with various departments to prevent defects and improve production processes.
They must possess excellent computer skills and proficiency in both written and spoken English, with French and/or German as a plus.
Tasks
Ensure the implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System according to IRIS/ISO/TS 22163.
Develop, implement, and update quality documentation, including control documents and methodologies with data analysis and root cause identification of defects.
Conduct checks and inspections on production and supplies in compliance with railway regulations such as EN 15085, EN 45545, etc.
Manage internal and external non‑conformities, preparing and monitoring corrective/preventive actions.
Contribute to risk analysis and the definition of process and product FMEA plans.
Participate in internal and external audits, supporting company functions during audits by certification bodies and customers, including project audits by FAI.
Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain to validate new processes, materials, and suppliers.
Interact with customers in managing non‑conformities and corrective actions via the customer portal.
Interact with suppliers in managing non‑conformities and corrective actions.
Interact with internal bodies in managing internal non‑conformities and corrective actions.
Develop and maintain quality KPIs.
Support operational staff training on quality, special processes, and railway requirements.
Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement across all company functions by optimizing products, reducing defects, ensuring robust processes, and improving efficiency.
Requirements
Technical degree (preferably mechanical/management engineering) and/or technical diploma (mechanical, industrial, or materials) with at least 3–5 years of experience in similar positions in the railway, mechanical, or highly regulated sectors.
Knowledge of the fundamentals of process and product quality in compliance with project specifications and reference standards.
Familiarity with special processes such as welding, gluing, riveting, painting, and NDT.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
Use of quality and problem‑solving tools such as 8D, 5
Why, Ishikawa, etc.
Knowledge of audit methodologies according to ISO 19011.
Knowledge of the use of measurement tools.
Customer‑oriented mindset.
Proficiency in data analysis, interpretation, and collection, creation and management of KPIs and reporting.
Continuous updating on standards, technologies, methodologies, and customer specifications.
