Job Description

Electrical Engineers in an automation and CNC environment focus on the design, integration, and optimization of electrical systems that drive high-performance machinery. Working alongside mechanical and controls engineers, they ensure that electrical components meet functional, safety, and regulatory standards. Their role supports continuous product innovation, system reliability, and operational efficiency—key differentiators in the competitive CNC and industrial automation market.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, development, and testing of electrical systems for CNC machines and automated equipment, focusing on performance, safety, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, software, and controls engineers, to ensure seamless integration of electrical components.
  • Work closely with product support and service teams to resolve field issues and implement design improvements based on customer feedback.
  • Develop and update wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and BOMs using CAD tools such as AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
  • Conduct diagnostics and troubleshooting of electrical issues in production or customer environments, proposing and implementing corrective actions.
  • Assist in component selection and vendor coordination for electrical parts such as drives, PLCs, HMIs, and circuit protection devices.
  • Support internal product documentation and training to ensure correct build and service practices.
  • Reverse‑engineer legacy systems or competitor machines to generate accurate schematics and improve internal design capabilities.
  • Identify innovation opportunities in power distribution, motor control, sensors, and safety systems to enhance new or existing machine capabilities.
  • Stay updated with industry regulations, standards, and emerging technologies in automation and CNC systems (e.g., UL, CE, IEC).
Must Haves
  • Proficiency in electrical CAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, Solid Works Electrical)
  • Strong understanding of motor control systems, PLCs, safety circuits, and industrial wiring
  • Experience with machine control architecture and integration (e.g., Siemens, Fanuc, Allen‑Bradley)
  • Solid knowledge of electrical standards (e.g., NEC, UL508A, CE marking)
  • Problem‑solving and analytical thinking in troubleshooting complex systems
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for documentation and team collaboration
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in industrial automation or CNC machine design
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of computer‑aided design and documentation work
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds for occasional field or shop work
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing or shop‑floor environment when required
