Master Forklift Field Service Technician

We are the largest equipment dealer in North America. If you have experience with auto, diesel, agricultural, material handling, lift truck or heavy equipment repair, we want you on our team.

Compensation Range

$26 to $42 per hour. This range is base pay only and does not include benefits and potential bonuses. Overall compensation will be determined based on geographic location, skillset, education, and experience.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance on customer forklifts and other material handling equipment
  • Diagnose and repair all forms of customer equipment
  • Complete each repair job in a timely, efficient and professional manner
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Work and manage workloads independently
  • Properly complete and submit all required paperwork
  • Maintain company vehicle and on‑board parts inventory
  • Incorporate Alta’s Guiding Principles into daily activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Maintain consistent, regular, and reliable attendance including being ready for work at the designated start time
Qualifications
  • Two years of previous forklift repair experience (highly desired, including military or reserve experience with MOS/NEC codes 63B, 63H, 63S, 63W, 63Y, 91B, 91H, 91L, 91M or CM)
  • Previous field experience highly preferable
  • Strong working knowledge of electric and liquid propane units
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude
  • Possess own tools
  • Clean driving record and valid driver’s license to drive company vehicle
  • Computer programs: HYPASS, Hyster TKC training software and Yale/Hyster contact management system
  • Language skills:
    Intermediate – ability to read, interpret documents and write routine reports
  • Mathematical skills:
    Basic – ability to perform calculations with numbers and units of measurement
  • Reasoning ability:
    Intermediate – apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, diagram forms and problem‑solving situations
Physical Demands / Work Environment
  • Regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach; frequently talk/hear; occasionally sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • No special vision requirements
  • Regularly lift up to 10 lb; frequently lift 11–25 lb; occasionally lift 26–100 lb and above
  • Work near moving mechanical parts; exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions; occasionally wet or humid conditions; risk of electrical shock, vibration
