• Location: Ithaca, NY 14850 (New York healthcare jobs)
• Healthcare Setting: Prep & Recovery Unit (PCU)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (July 22, 2024 – October 21, 2024)
• Hours per Week: 36 (Guaranteed)
• Nursing Shift: Variable – 3x12 hour rotating shifts or 4x10 hour shifts preferred
• On-Call: Includes 1 weekend day call (24 hours) in a 6-week rotation, plus weekday call
• Flexible Scheduling: Yes
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1930–$2070 per week

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State or compact state
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care nursing experience required
• Preoperative nursing experience preferred
• Experience with Meditech EMR preferred (not required)
• Experience with peripheral nerve blocks preferred
• Pediatric nursing experience (caring for patients age 6 months and older) preferred

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care in the Prep & Recovery Unit for inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures
• Manage all phases of patient recovery (Phase I and II) in a shared post-anesthesia care unit (PACU)
• Maintain a 1:2 patient ratio, including simultaneous care for two Phase I patients when necessary
• Assist with local procedures (thoracentesis, paracentesis, minor orthopedic cases) and recover ICU and endoscopy patients
• Support a diverse range of surgical specialties: orthopedic, general surgery, ENT, neurosurgery, plastics, urology, and gynecology
• Provide pediatric patient care during high-volume ENT days (tonsillectomies, ear tubes, adenoidectomies) and other surgeries (fractures, appendectomies)
• Participate in on-call rotation as required for optimal clinical support
• Document patient care using Meditech EMR and paper charting as needed
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care
