Utility – Woodyard (Jackson, AL)

These positions create value by safely operating and performing preventative maintenance on the equipment which allows for smooth and successful operations in the woodyard.

Principle Responsibilities
  • Utility – Woodyard is an entry‑level production position that requires a mechanical background, general manual labor, operating heavy equipment, performing maintenance, working around fast‑moving equipment, general cleaning, and any other related production tasks as business demands.
  • Must be willing and able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and overtime, as needed.
  • Must be willing and able to work rotating shifts.
Basic Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must have at least 4 years documented manufacturing/maintenance or labor‑intensive work experience or 2 years of study at an accredited college in a technical field (e.g., process operations, engineering) with 2 years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment or 2 years of military experience and currently working in a manufacturing/maintenance position.
  • Must be able to work in a hot, cold, humid, noisy, industrial environment with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks repetitively for extended periods of time (e.g., lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling), with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be willing to wear the necessary Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, face shield, chemical suit, respirator, ear plugs, hearing protection, steel‑toe boots or safety shoes and other PPE required by specific jobs), with or without reasonable accommodation.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to work well under pressure and within time constraints, multi‑task, and build sound relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Exhibit excellent communication, analytical, organizational and computer skills.
  • Capable of independently making sound decisions through creative problem‑solving, ambiguity, and change.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and handle multiple requests simultaneously.
  • Ability to read and understand technical correspondence, memos, instructions, and reports.

Those selected to go through the PCA hiring process will be asked to take a series of five written tests and take part in a structured board interview.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Starting salary: $22.00 per hour.
  • Paid vacation: prorated vacation during the initial year based on start date within the calendar year.
  • Paid holidays.
  • Within the first 30 days, employees (and dependents) are eligible to enroll in certain benefit coverages—medical, dental, and vision—and are automatically enrolled in life, AD&D, and disability coverages.
  • Upon hire, employees are automatically enrolled in the 401(k) plan, which offers pre‑tax and Roth contribution options along with employer match contributions.
