Accounting Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounting Specialist to join a machinery manufacturing organization in Jackson, Michigan on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent position. This position supports day-to-day financial operations by managing core accounting activities, maintaining accurate records, and helping ensure timely transaction processing. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, sound knowledge of payables and receivables, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced business environment.

Responsibilities:

Process vendor invoices, verify supporting documentation, and coordinate timely payment of approved obligations.

Prepare customer invoices, monitor outstanding balances, and follow up on receivables to support consistent cash flow.

Maintain accurate billing records and resolve discrepancies related to charges, payments, and account activity.

Reconcile account balances regularly to identify variances, research issues, and ensure financial data accuracy.

Support daily accounting operations by recording transactions and keeping financial documentation organized and up to date.

Partner with internal teams to address payment questions, billing concerns, and account-related issues efficiently.

Assist with period-end close activities by reviewing transactions and helping maintain complete and accurate accounting records. Requirements  Experience handling accounts payable and accounts receivable activities in a detail-oriented business setting.

Working knowledge of billing processes, payment tracking, and account reconciliation procedures.

Ability to review financial information carefully and identify errors or inconsistencies accurately.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounting tasks and deadlines.

Proficiency in general accounting functions and maintaining detailed financial records.

Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with internal teams and external contacts.
