Description
Broad Functions Coordinatesthein-office functions of the corrections education program and monitors the books and supplies necessary for the program. Position is responsible for conducting state approval documents that allow instructors, administrators, staff, and adjuncts to enter the facilities. Must go inside the Correctional Facilities to assist with critical functions.
Essential Functions- Major Emphasis:
Serves as a Corrections Education Program point of contact and coordinator for internal and external stakeholders. Provides in-office support for the CEP team. - Maintains all corrections education activities within the program including, mail, CEP JPAY system, supply inventory, supply delivery, and in-facility support. Coordinates all of these efforts through the CEP department and our FCI/MDOC partners.
- Assists with all CEP registration, admission, and commencement activities in the facilities. This includes traveling and going into the facilities.
- The primary communicator with all CEP Faculty about college policies/procedures and facility issues. This includes updating the required handbook and training site on Canvas.
- Maintainer of replenishing JPay stamps and ensure JPay training is completed.
- Primary contact for dropout detective cases for CEP students.
- Consults with CEP Director to provide support for the recruiting, admission, advising, financial aid collection, and registration process of all CEP students.
- Provides lead on the CEP JPAY email communication system for the CEP team. Will process JPAYs when practical and refer JPAY’s to appropriate offices when needed. This system is used to communicate virtually with our students.
- Coordinates student record linking through the scanning portal and facilitates document storage procedures in conjunction with Registrar.
- Maintains virtual file of records and communication with students.
- Ensures that the supply delivery is timely and accurate per each facility needs.
- Promotes and supports the Corrections Education Program.
- Works collaboratively with all offices comprised within Student Services and Academics.
- Acts in accordance with Jackson College’s values, mission and beliefs.
- Responsible for understanding, supporting and actively demonstrating the College’s beliefs, values, mission and vision and being in agreement to be evaluated by same.
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Contacts and Purpose of ContactsInternal:
Frequent contact with staff within the Corrections Education Team, Student Services and other departments as well as faculty and administrators in both problem solving and information sharing capacities.
External:
Regular contact with students, sponsors, and FCI/MDOC staff in a service-provider capacity as generalist in relation to recruitment, admissions, retention, financial aid, registration and graduation.

- Bachelor’s degree from a college or university; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Computer skills with prior experience in Microsoft Office,
- The ability to build, alter and maintain spreadsheets is also important.
- Must be able to be cleared and maintain a LEIN (Law Enforcement Information Network) clearance to work inside a Michigan Department of Corrections Facility and a Federal Correctional Institution.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
