Licensed Dental Therapist

The Center for Family Health is a thriving federally qualified health center located in downtown Jackson, Michigan. Our mission is Opening the Door to Healthcare for all. We are committed to taking care of our talented and compassionate staff as they provide good quality care to our patients.

Currently, we are seeking a Licensed Dental Therapist to provide quality dental care in our community. The Dental Therapist will be joining our wonderful team of Dentists, Hygienists, Dental Assistants, and Sterilization Tech to become part of a general dental practice, providing care for all ages according to their comfort level and expertise.

Duties will include:

* Provide oral health care within the regulatory guidelines set by the State of Michigan and perform the full range of procedures within authorized scope, pursuant to the Written Practice Agreement.

* Work as part of the dental team, providing clinical treatments under the supervision of a dentist.

* Supervise the work of up to three dental assistants and two dental hygienists in any one practice setting.

* Engage patients and their families on maintaining oral health and preventing oral disease.

* Obtain health histories and assess the stated health of the patient to determine whether modifications to care or consultation prior to initiating care is needed.

* Follow standard infection prevention and control practices, as outlined by Center protocols and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

* Work with staff across the health center to provide whole-person health care and address barriers to a patient's care.

* Work effectively with diverse and multi-cultural staff and patient populations.

* Participate in required meetings, committees, and quality improvement projects.

Required Training and

Experience:

* Completion of a dental therapy educational program that meets the standards of the Commission on Dental Accreditation.

* Possess an active Michigan Dental Therapy License without restrictions.

* Demonstrated clinical competence.
