Spanish Adjunct Instructor
Inside Higher Ed is seeking a Spanish Adjunct Instructor to teach face‑to‑face courses at Jackson Community College (JC) locations, including the Central campus in Jackson, Hillsdale, Adrian, and selected prison facilities. Candidates who are only available to teach online will not be considered.
Adjunct instructor positions are part‑time and teaching assignments vary by semester and enrollment. Some semesters may have no assignments available.
Responsibilities- Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, and papers.
- Prepare and deliver instructional materials (syllabi, homework assignments, handouts) in person and/or online.
- Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions.
- Compile, administer, and grade examinations.
- Participate in required reporting processes (grades, participation, etc.).
- Assist students in connecting to college resources.
- Master’s degree or higher in Spanish.
- OR Master’s degree or higher in another field with 18 graduate credits in Spanish.
- OR Master’s degree or higher in another field with ACTFL certification in Spanish (the College will assist qualified candidates in obtaining the certification).
- OR Professional certification from a widely recognized professional organization as a translator for court or medical settings.
- OR Completion of a Master’s degree or higher in a country where all coursework is conducted in Spanish.
All candidates must also possess the ability to obtain and maintain a Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) clearance annually at all Michigan correctional facilities.
