Teaching Opportunities
The position requires face‑to‑face instruction at JC campus locations, including the Central campus in Jackson, the Hillsdale and Adrian campuses, and selected prison facilities. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) clearance for all Michigan correctional facilities. AdjunctInstructor Status
These appointments are part‑time adjunct positions. Teaching assignments vary semester to semester and are based on enrollment; therefore, some semesters may have no assignments available.
Essential Functions- Evaluate and grade students’ class work, assignments, and papers.
- Prepare and deliver instructional materials, including syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts in person and/or online.
- Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions.
- Compile, administer, and grade examinations.
- Participate in required reporting processes (grades, participation, etc.).
- Assist students in connecting to college resources.
- Master’s degree or higher in Spanish.
- OR Master’s degree or higher in another field with 18 graduate credits in Spanish.
- OR Master’s degree or higher in another field with ACTFL certification in Spanish (the College will assist in obtaining the certification).
- OR Professional certification from a widely recognized professional organization as a translator for court or medical settings.
- OR Completion of a Master’s degree or higher completed in Spanish in a Spanish‑speaking country.
- AND Candidates must possess the ability to obtain and maintain a LEIN clearance at all Michigan correctional facilities.
