Location:
This is a hybrid position with required onsite days:
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at the Parnall Office in Jackson, MI. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).
The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for engineering and design to support the sustainable operation of our distribution, generation, and storage system. The incumbent works with teams across the organization and external stakeholders, and leads complex technical projects. May manage the work of lower level engineers and technicians as required.
A Senior Electrical Engineer in HVD New Business and Capacity Planning provides support to many areas of the company including HVD Engineering, Project Management, System Protection, LVD Substation Planning, Economic Development, Rates and the ESM Group. The senior engineer resolves complex technical issues on the HVD system, including new interconnections with generators and with our Transmission provider. The engineer is expected to work with minimal supervision, help train and support other members of the group, and represent the company well in interactions with customers and other areas of the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform a wide range of engineering tasks by operating computer-assisted design or engineering software and equipment
- Ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements by directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support, or testing activities
- Prepare specifications for purchases of electrical equipment and materials and estimate material, labor, or construction costs for budget preparation
- Ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements by preparing electrical systems specifications, technical drawings, or topographical maps; investigate and resolve project issues in a timely manner
- Design, control, and implement electrical systems and products; serve as the primary point of contact with clients for all electrical engineering project matters. Manage the development and implementation of electrical systems
- Design, maintain, implement, or improve electrical instruments, facilities, components, equipment products, or systems for industrial, commercial, or domestic purposes
- Collaborate with customers, coworkers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering products or projects, monitor project progress and budget, and prepare reports for upper management
- Write reports and compile data regarding existing and potential electrical engineering projects and studies, and provide technical support to other departments and personnel as needed
- Other duties as assigned or may be necessary
- Bachelor's Degree in an ABET-accredited program OR an engineering degree from a non-ABET-accredited program plus a Professional Engineering license with 4 - 7 years of experience in an advanced electrical engineering capacity
