Work Schedule: Hybrid (On-site: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday | Remote: Wednesday, Friday)

Job Description

CMS Energy is seeking a Project Engineer IV to support our High Voltage Distribution (HVD) Lines Engineering team. This position plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, reliable design and engineering services in response to a significant increase in HVD Lines Reliability projects. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong project management capabilities, technical acumen, and the ability to drive projects to completion while upholding safety and quality standards.

This role will follow a hybrid work model
, with a preference for candidates located near the Jackson Parnall facility. Candidates located near other CMS Energy service centers across Michigan may also be considered.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, coordinate, and manage design plans for HVD Lines Reliability projects.
  • Review, validate, and approve invoices associated with contracted design services.
  • Track and report project metrics, including schedule performance, budget adherence, and key quality indicators.
  • Administer and process change orders, ensuring accurate documentation and proper approvals.
  • Oversee permit management activities to maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Provide timely responses to field inquiries to support efficient project execution.
  • Manage AFC (Approved for Construction) documents in coordination with Document Control teams.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related discipline).
  • 2–5 years of engineering or project management experience, preferably within the utility or energy sector.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong understanding of engineering design processes and project management methodologies.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Commitment to safety, quality assurance, and continuous improvement practices.
