The position involves managing projects from concept through closeout, coordinating multiple disciplines, and supporting both in‑house and consultant‑led designs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a project engineer, overseeing projects from concept through construction closeout.
  • Coordinate across disciplines (I&C, physical substation layout, civil, and lines teams) to ensure alignment and successful execution.
  • Support I&C designs for substations, including protection and controls, instrumentation, motor operators, air‑brakes, and switch controls.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining scope of work (SOW) documents, RFQs, purchase requisitions (PRs), and project milestones (30/60/90 reviews) for consulting services.
  • Support technical reviews of I&C designs and consultant deliverables.
  • Lead and participate in meetings with consultants to maintain project targets and deliverables.
  • Track and process invoices, RFIs, and other project documentation.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively with a cross‑functional team.
  • Outgoing, initiative‑driven, and able to proactively gather information from subject matter experts.
  • Familiarity with I&C systems in substations, AC/DC load studies, and substation layouts is beneficial.
Travel Requirements
  • Ability to visit multiple sites throughout Michigan’s Lower Peninsula (excluding the Thumb area).
