Responsibilities
  • Lead Project Engineer role in a team setting, providing support to project managers and leading engineering tasks related to planning, design, quality, testing, and execution of complex and strategic projects for the Electric Distribution business area.
  • Support a number of Economic Development projects and other major projects for Electric Distribution, including major electric distribution system rebuilds.
  • Ensure that technical project work scope is properly coordinated between internal and external engineers of record, vendors, fabricators, and contractors to meet project requirements.
  • Manage multiple assignments (ranging from moderate to complex) requiring application of standard techniques, theory, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks.
  • Oversee multiple initiatives, plan projects, establish project criteria, coordinate project reviews, and ensure proper implementation of project elements.
  • Schedule, plan, forecast, resource and manage all technical activities to assure project accuracy and quality from conception to completion.
  • Responsible for team deliverables and oversee work of lower‑level engineers and technicians.
  • Build strong partnerships with business partners and deeply understand their business goals. Interact with clients, interpreting their needs and requirements, and represent them in the field.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications.
  • Perform quality control tasks on budgets, schedules, plans, and personnel performance and report on the project’s status.
  • Prepare, schedule, coordinate and monitor assigned engineering projects. Assign responsibilities and mentor project team.
  • Provide assistance and technical support to project managers and other participants, collaborate with senior engineers to create efficient project methods and maintain project profitability.
  • Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Support the Agile project delivery cadence by balancing team performance with tight deadlines and develop specifications for the project’s needed equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned or necessary.
Skills
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of design and visualization software such as AutoCAD.
  • Proficient in MS Office, with aptitude for learning new software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards.
  • Knowledge of Project Management Information Systems such as Unifier and Document Control tools such as Project Wise is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Project Management principles and skills is a plus.
  • An Electrical Engineering background is preferred, but not required.
  • Understanding and experience in contract management.
  • Experience in the management of engineering contracts and engineering deliverables.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program OR Engineering degree from a non‑ABET accredited program plus a Professional Engineering license (Required).
Experience
  • 7 – 10 years of experience as a Program Engineer, working on advanced projects (Required).
