GPT Renewables is recruiting for a BESS Application Engineer for a direct-hire opportunity supporting Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. This position is primarily office-based in Jackson, Michigan
, with occasional travel to project sites and customer meetings.

Direct Hire / Full-Time

$80,000–$120,000 annually, commensurate with experience

Annual target bonus of 5% based on company and individual performance

Occasional travel, up to 5% of the time

Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

• Review RFPs, RFQs, technical specifications, and project requirements for stand-alone and solar-coupled BESS projects.
• Develop technical proposals, conceptual system architectures, and preliminary designs.
• Size and model BESS solutions based on project requirements, operating use cases, inverter configurations, and manufacturer specifications.
• Evaluate DC/AC configurations, equipment compatibility, system operating modes, and controls strategies.
• Serve as a technical resource during customer meetings and assist with specifications, design requirements, and technical exhibits.
• Collaborate with internal and external engineering teams to develop layouts, single-line diagrams, and project designs.
• Provide technical support to Project Management teams throughout design, construction, and commissioning.
• Assist with equipment installation requirements, storage and handling procedures, site verification, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities.
• Provide technical guidance and product knowledge to sales and business development teams.
• Support technical training related to BESS solutions, system operation, and product offerings.
• Travel to project sites or customer meetings as needed.
• Pursue applicable industry certifications, including NABCEP professional certification.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required;
  Electrical Engineering or a related discipline preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience
  .
• BESS system design, application engineering, power systems, or energy storage experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with solar PV and BESS integration preferred.
• Working knowledge of electrical design principles, electrical calculations, and applicable NEC requirements.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, single-line diagrams, equipment documentation, and applicable industry codes.
• Experience with engineering/design software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information to customers, engineers, project teams, and non-technical stakeholders.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to travel occasionally to support projects.

• Willingness to pursue applicable industry certifications and continuing education.
• FE/EIT certification or progress toward professional engineering credentials is a plus
• OSHA 30 Certification
• NABCEP Energy Storage Installation Professional (ESIP) certification or willingness to pursue certification.
