Assistant Stylist

Overview

Assistant Stylist is a temporary position intended to prepare talent for a stylist role. The Assistant Stylist engages with guests, consults on hair care needs, and recommends products and services. The role is mentored by an Elite or Master Stylist for the first 3 months to focus on performance, guest service, and compliance standards.

• Deliver exceptional guest service and contribute to retail and service sales goals.
• Support mentor Stylist in meeting sales and productivity goals for hair services.
• Assist with product demonstrations and in-store events and promotions.
• After month three, perform hair services (haircuts, color, texture, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup, ear piercing).
• Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and compliance with safety and infection control procedures.
• Use booking and clientele systems to schedule guest services.
• Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager and uphold store operational standards.
• Adhere to Ulta Beauty dress code, loss prevention best practices, and other operational tasks.

• Cosmetology license.
• Basic understanding of latest salon techniques for cutting, coloring, styling, and treatment services.
• Basic understanding of equipment and chemicals usage.
• Ability to recommend and sell pro hair care and makeup products.
• Developed communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and clientele.

• Flexible schedule, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

• Frequent mobility during shift.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and twisting.
• Continuous lifting up to 10 lbs.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects.
• Frequent use of computer, telephone, and related office and cosmetology supplies.
