Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Healthcare)

We are seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our interdisciplinary team and provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care to the individuals we serve.

Position summary

Under the direction of the Director of Clinic-Based Services and the Medical Director, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner delivers psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and treatment planning in alignment with Life Ways mission and policies. This role requires strong clinical expertise, collaboration, and the ability to engage consumers in their journey toward recovery.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning.
  • Provide direct psychiatric services, including evaluations, medication reviews, prescribing, and monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, clinicians, and community providers to support integrated care.
  • Participate in peer reviews, quality improvement activities, and evidence-based practice implementation.
  • Serve on medical and administrative committees, offering recommendations to enhance clinical programming.
  • Certify consumers for involuntary psychiatric hospitalization as required by Michigan Mental Health Code.
  • Provide on-call backup coverage for peers when needed.
  • Contribute to staff training, program development, and interdisciplinary team goals.
  • Ensure compliance with confidentiality, recipient rights, and all Life Ways policies.
