Staff Accountant | Jackson

DEPLOY has been retained by a leading Mississippi telecommunications company with over 100 years of service throughout the Southeast. DEPLOY is seeking a Staff Accountant for an in-office role in Jackson, MS.

The overall purpose of this position is to support the accounting management team across various accounting concepts, practices, and procedures. The Staff Accountant handles day-to-day finance and accounting operations—including journal entries, financial technology systems, and administrative functions—and ensures all financial analyses are reconciled and reported accurately and on time.

The essential job functions and duties described below represent core responsibilities, but additional duties may be assigned as needed.

• Preparation of general ledgers in Microsoft Dynamics SL, including accounts payable coding in Altec Doc Link and billing assistance.
• Preparation of financial statements using FYISoft.
• Preparation of monthly financial analyses and balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Assist in the preparation of schedules and information required for tax return filings (including book and tax depreciation, if applicable).
• Preparation of cash flow supporting schedules.
• Assist in the preparation of various federal and state regulatory filings.
• Assist in the preparation of subsidiary and consolidated annual financial statements with footnotes.
• Ensure accounts payable, cash receipts, accounts receivable, and payroll transactions are properly recorded.
• Perform timely, accurate month-end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Ensure proper revenue and expense recognition in accordance with GAAP.
• Maintain compliance across all finance and accounting operations with GAAP and applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
• Perform fiscal year-end close activities and support external auditors.
• Participate in and lead cross-training initiatives as identified.

• Perform other regulatory reporting, projects, or accounting duties as assigned.

Location:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or a Bachelor's degree in a related field combined with direct accounting experience.
• Minimum of 1 to 2 years of general ledger accounting experience required.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics SL, FYISoft, or Altec Doc Link is a plus.

• Strong understanding of GAAP, accounting concepts, practices, and procedures.
• High level of accuracy and precise attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
