Data Center Senior Construction Manager

JACOBS has an immediate opportunity to support our data center project in Baton Rouge, LA. As a Data Center Sr Construction Manager, you’ll join a collaborative team, providing award‑winning planning, engineering, architectural design, construction management, and design‑build project delivery.

The Construction Manager’s primary function is to lead the pre‑construction and construction process, reviewing contractor performance against schedule and quality responsibilities and assisting in planning work to ensure efficient contractor execution. They monitor work installed by contractors to ensure it is completed using sound, acceptable construction practices, serve as a resource for the Owner, review change orders, audit installed quantities, and participate in Interactive Planning (IAP) efforts for schedule sequence development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and comply with Jacobs Beyond‑Zero safety culture.
  • Conduct constructability reviews, pre‑construction planning, and site logistics planning with a focus on safety, cost, and schedule optimization.
  • Develop and implement construction schedule.
  • Plan commissioning and micro‑scheduling.
  • Lead Data Center projects of $10M TIC or greater.
  • Lead a professional project field staff of 5 or greater.
  • Develop innovative project solutions around modularization and prefabrication methods.
  • Review, verify, and recommend and/or approve contractor, subcontractor, and vendor execution plans.
  • Monitor construction progress daily and provide detailed reporting to owners and Jacobs management.
  • Lead daily and weekly contractor meetings to drive safety, schedule, change management, and project cost.
  • Establish a process for notification and remediation of defects to contractors during construction.
Qualifications
  • At least 12 years of experience on large building construction or civil projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or equivalent.
  • Experience leading a Data Center project team and managing subcontractors and vendors.
  • Project experience related to Data Centers and/or Data Center upfits.
  • Knowledge of 120

    VAC electrical power tie‑ins, instrumentation installation, controls wiring, fiber terminations, splicing, network cabling, serial communications, panel wiring, and I/O card or controller installation.
  • Knowledge of NFPA
    70E.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction scheduling (critical path method) and commissioning planning.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, scheduling and project management programs.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scope or work and project schedules.
  • Ability to implement technologies such as Building Information Models (BIM), Lean principles and other leading‑edge technologies.
  • OSHA 30 or willing to achieve within 60 days of employment.
Physical Requirements
  • Reaching for, handling, and manipulating objects and materials in all directions.
  • Coordinating eyes, hands, fingers, and body in and around active construction and operations areas.
  • Standing and walking for periods of time.
  • Seeing and hearing with or without correction.
  • Climbing and egressing step ladders, stairways, uneven surfaces above and below ground level.
  • Lifting to 25 pounds from ground level, waist level and overhead.
  • Carrying up to 25 pounds for 5 yards.
  • Bending, kneeling, crouching or squatting while navigating sites.
