Physician - Chief, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP). Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements and submit an EDRP application within four months of appointment. The award amount is up to $200,000 and the eligibility period is one to five years.

Basic Requirements
  • United States citizenship
  • Doctor of medicine or equivalent degree from a VA approved school
  • Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a state, territory, or the District of Columbia
  • Residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to board certification
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Preferred experience:

    significant clinical expertise, publication record in pathology, board certified or board eligible in Anatomic Pathology, experience managing a Pathology Laboratory
  • Physical requirements:

    light lifting under 15 pounds, walking 3 hours, standing 3 hours
Duties
  • Responsible for all clinical and administrative functions of the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine service
  • Exercise administrative, programmatic, clinical, anatomical, and academic oversight of pathology and laboratory programs to ensure delivery of quality services
  • Serves as the role model clinical administrator by providing and monitoring pathology and laboratory care
  • Integrate pathology and laboratory services into primary functions of the organization
  • Serve as the principal spokesperson and advocate for pathology and laboratory programs within the VA Medical Center
  • Ensure communication and coordination between the Medical Center laboratory services and the clinical/patient care services
  • Work schedule:

    Monday‑Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
