Job Title:
Education & Community Outreach Coordinator – Poison Control Center
The Education & Community Outreach Coordinator is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating targeted educational initiatives for the Poison Control Center, the community, and public health partners. This role also promotes poisoning prevention and the Poison Help Hotline, while providing clinical support to the Poison Control Center’s operations.

Education and Experience
Required:
Degree (Associate or Bachelor) and two (2) years of experience with community health education, health promotion, or educational programming.- Certifications, Licenses, or Registration required:
Valid Mississippi Driver’s License. - Preferred Qualifications: Valid RN license. Certified Specialist Poison Information from the American Association of Poison Control Centers.
- Demonstrates strong collaboration skills while leading educational initiatives.
- Skilled in assessing training needs and designing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive learning programs.
- Possesses excellent communication and sound judgment to tailor education for diverse audiences.
- Confident and articulate public speaker with experience engaging large audiences and media outlets.
- Technologically proficient, especially in Excel and related programs, to support academic scholarship and research.
- Provides support to the Poison Control Center by managing calls from the general public and healthcare professionals.
- Assess and address the educational and training needs of the Poison Control Center staff by designing and implementing continuing education programs.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with internal teams, other poison centers, public health agencies, government bodies, hospitals, and healthcare systems statewide.
- Provide expert guidance on poisoning and prevention to healthcare professionals, public health partners, and the community; deliver tailored educational resources and training.
- Lead promotional campaigns to increase awareness and use of poison center services.
- Manage communications across various platforms, including website, social media, printed materials, and public health alerts.
- Maintain accurate records to monitor and evaluate program effectiveness.
- Handle incoming poison control calls, assess risks, provide medical guidance using standardized protocols, and document cases for toxicosurveillance.
- Support research efforts to improve toxicosurveillance, public health strategies, and poisoning prevention.
