As a Licensed Water Operator II, you’ll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services uninterrupted. Based in Jackson, MS, you’ll report to the Water Plant Operations supervisor and supervise Water Plant Operators I, Operators, and Operators‑in‑Training. You’ll participate in the operation of water treatment plants and wells, train new employees, evaluate and aid in employee performance, and train staff in appropriate treatment and sampling methods.
You’ll perform inspections of water treatment plants and well systems, monitor and document plant operations using equipment gauges, dials, graphs, and other instrumentation. You’ll operate and adjust plant pumps, motors, feeders, and other equipment to maintain appropriate operations. You’ll monitor treatment plant facilities and water wells, recommend changes in raw water and finished water flows, and adjust chemical feeder dosages as necessary.
You’ll monitor chemicals, mix and adjust residuals including chlorine, chloramine, pH, and other elements, maintain plant operations logs and reports, document amount of chemicals used, and report material or equipment needs to the supervisor. You’ll collect liquid samples and perform routine water quality laboratory tests, ensuring safe work practices among plant operations personnel.
Other duties and responsibilities include reporting repair and service needs of plant machinery and equipment (pumps, valves, motors, engines, meters, drive equipment), recording failures and problems, supervising general plant facility maintenance and cleaning, responding to customer inquiries and complaints regarding water quality, explaining plant operations, policies, and procedures, and staying familiar with changing Federal, State, and local laws and regulations regarding water treatment and quality.

Qualifications- 3+ years of experience performing water purification and treatment duties
- Valid Class A Water Works Certificate
- Valid driver’s license with no major infractions
