Position: Law Enforcement Officer III (Degree)

About the Agency

The Mississippi Gaming Commission (MGC) is charged with enforcing the law and regulation of all casinos and charitable bingo operations under the Mississippi Gaming Control Act and Charitable Bingo Act. The MGC seeks to maintain the integrity of the gaming industry in Mississippi through two main methods: maintaining the integrity of the gaming property and maintaining the integrity of the gaming patron.

Responsibilities

The Investigations Division is charged with investigating all gaming, manufacturer and distributor licenses, findings of suitability, other Commission approvals and reporting all material facts to the Commission. This position is responsible for investigations of assigned persons currently involved in or pending involvement in the State’s gaming industry to determine suitability. Work is accomplished through search and examination of civil, legal and financial documentation.

The task involves developing and maintaining good working relationships with courts, outside law‑enforcement agencies and gaming commissions. Duties include the interview of applicants and the preparation of comprehensive investigative reports for the commissioner’s review and assessment.

The ability to communicate with the public in a professional and courteous manner and work well with others.

Preferred Qualifications

Typically requires 60 semester hours of college, possession of a State of Mississippi Law‑Enforcement Professional Certification and 4-6 years of experience in law enforcement.
