About the AgencyThe mission of the Mississippi Insurance Department is to impartially enforce the laws and regulations enumerated in Mississippi Code Ann. Section 83-1-1 et seq., thereby creating an environment conducive to a competitive marketplace for the sale of insurance products and services while providing the State's citizens with the maximum amount of consumer protection. Our aim is to create the highest degree of economic security, quality of life, public safety, and fire protection for the State's citizens at the lowest possible cost.
To accomplish this mission, we are committed to providing assistance to our customers in a timely, caring, and ethical fashion.
The position is assigned to our Licensing Division.
Duties include:
- Interpret and apply governing statutes, rules, regulations, and policies when providing information to the public, statewide agents, agencies, insurance companies, and education providers
- Process paper and electronic applications and renewals for licensure for business entities and bail agents
- Verify documentation for licenses and penalty fees.
- Communicate with applicants, insurance producers, bail agents, and the public in person as well as by phone and email.
- Review and approve Certificates of Authority appointments and individual license amendments.
- Review and approve continuing education course applications.
- Sort, scan, and index processed paperwork for licensing records
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Excellent computer (especially Excel) and communication skills, plus the ability to manage time effectively.
Preferred QualificationsTypically requires High School Diploma or equivalent and 3-6 years of experience. Hiring Agency
