Systems Programmer

Onsite 5 days a week in Jackson, MS Area. Must be a US Citizen, Green Card holder, or H1B. Contract to hire. Client can sponsor visa.

• Install, configure, and maintain systems software programs to ensure optimal performance and functionality.
• Assist with the identification, evaluation, and customization of vendor-supplied systems software packages.
• Provide expert technical assistance and guidance to fellow systems programmers.
• Conduct in-depth research and analysis of hardware system components to support system performance.
• Review performance and utilization data to prepare capacity planning reports, ensuring systems have sufficient capacity to meet business needs.
• Design, implement, and execute the Business Recovery Plan, including conducting annual tests to ensure business continuity.
• Collaborate with the mainframe engineering team to install, configure, and update the mainframe environment.

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.

• Minimum 10 years of experience in IBM mainframe O/S System Programming.
• DB2 systems programming experience in a mainframe environment is highly preferred.
• Hands‑on experience in Storage Administration.
• Expertise in IOCP/HCD Administration.
• Security Administration experience (specifically CA‑Top Secret) is a plus.
• In‑depth knowledge of IBM operating system utilities for problem determination and resolution.
• Experience with system and application problem determination and resolution.
• Familiarity with SMP/E to install operating systems and program products, as well as applying required maintenance.
• Proficiency in MS Office products.
• z/VM experience is preferred.
