AWS Environment Management - Oversee and maintain the existing AWS Environment while ensuring adherence to industry best practices. Oversee the Cloud Architecture to meet performance and security requirements. Troubleshoot and Support issues and work with AWS and internal teams to resolve issues. Oversee governance and security to meet compliance regulations. Third-level professional position accountable for the design and management of an organization's cloud systems, applications, policies, and strategy.
Evaluates and identifies the best cloud solutions for the organization. Develops and modifies scalable architecture to support applications and infrastructure-as-a-service (IAAS) and platform-as-a-service (PAAS) platforms. Ensures the security and compliance of cloud environments, including data protection and privacy. Monitors and analyzes cloud infrastructure performance to identify and resolve issues proactively. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to optimize cloud-based environments for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
Designs controls and processes that utilize available audit tools. Maintains up-to-date and extensive knowledge of cloud products and technology. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.
AWS Professional-level certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, AWS Certified Dev Ops Engineer – Professional). Working knowledge of common scripting/programming languages (Python, Bash, Power Shell). This position will also need to be able to mentor and train others. Provide knowledge transfer, training, and coaching to other team members to ensure we have multiple people with working knowledge of the cloud environment.
Must help with the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, standards, and playbooks. Deep knowledge of key AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, Lambda, Cloud Formation, etc.). Proficiency with infrastructure as code (Cloud Formation, Terraform, AWS CDK) and CI/CD pipelines. Strong troubleshooting abilities across networking, storage, and compute layers in AWS. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and focused under pressure. Strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 5-8 + years of IT experience with emphasis in security and compliance. Agency preferred qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited 4-year college/university in Computer Science, Cloud Computing, Networking or other related IT fields and 5-8 + years of IT experience with emphasis in security and compliance. Experience in a government or highly regulated environment (e.g., HIPAA, CJIS, IRS 1075 compliance). Experience implementing security best practices (e.g., IAM policies, encryption, network segmentation, SCPs). Familiarity with Dev Ops principles, containerization (Docker, ECS, EKS), and serverless architectures.
Proven experience mentoring junior staff and fostering a collaborative, learning-focused environment. All candidates must have a valid driver's license and pass an extensive background check.
