Cake Decorator - Part Time

Role Summary

As a Cake Decorator – Part Time, you will create and decorate cakes, tarts, pastries and special‑order items while ensuring quality and safety standards. Base pay range: $15.50–$29.20 per hour.

• Assemble, fill, finish, and decorate specialty bakery goods following standard procedures.
• Prioritize production and adjust schedules to meet demand.
• Monitor product quality, maintain sanitation, and perform opening, closing, and other duties.
• Provide excellent customer service and support team members, including apprentices.

• Intermediate cake and pastry decorating skills, including piping techniques.
• Knowledge of color theory and blending of buttercream colors.
• Ability to follow recipes, directions, and procedures and manage time effectively.
• Advanced knife handling, tool safety, basic math for recipe conversions.
• Strong communication skills and team collaboration.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.

• Minimum 6–12 months retail or restaurant experience.
• Complete the Bakery Decorator Apprentice training program, or equivalent experience.
• Prior experience within a professional bakery or grocery retail preferred.

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Standing/walking 6–8 hours per 8‑hour day.
• Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
• Work requires bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
• Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals and temperatures 90°F.
• Ability to work in wet and dry conditions, flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays.
• Use of ladders and heavy machinery allowed.
