Job descriptions:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated General Maintenance Worker for a long-term federal contract in Gulfport MS. We offer excellent union pay and benefits, a Monday through Friday schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on facility systems and equipment.
• Perform carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, HVAC filter changes, and general repair tasks as assigned.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff or other departments.
• Complete emergency repairs as needed to ensure safety and continued operations.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, and equipment status.
• Identify potential safety or maintenance issues and report them to the supervisor.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work spaces in clean and safe working condition .
• Follow all safety policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
• Assist maintenance team members with projects as required .
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required .
• 2+ years of experience in general maintenance or a related field.
• Working knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems, and general building repair.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Employees may be exposed to:

• Loud or noisy environments.

Outdoor work and varying weather conditions.

• Hot or cold environments depending on maintenance tasks.
• Chemicals, dust, or other irritants associated with maintenance activities.
• Occasional work in confined spaces, elevated areas, or mechanical rooms.

Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):

• Ability to push, pull, carry, and lift items up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs or ladders for extended periods of time.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, and work in awkward positions as needed.
• Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely.
• Ability to work on uneven indoor and outdoor surfaces.

May be required to use step stools, ladders, or lifts to perform tasks at various heights.
