This is a remote, field-based position
, requiring an experienced technician who can independently manage daily service assignments, diagnose complex generator issues, and deliver exceptional customer service with minimal supervision.

We are looking for a true generator troubleshooter—not someone whose experience is limited to routine preventive maintenance. Key Responsibilities
  • Independently troubleshoot, maintain, repair, install, commission, and service commercial and industrial diesel and natural gas generators.
  • Diagnose generator controllers, engine management systems, voltage regulators, automatic transfer switches (ATS), and related electrical and mechanical components.
  • Utilize manufacturer‑specific diagnostic and communication software to connect to generator controllers, retrieve fault histories, monitor operating parameters, and troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical service manuals.
  • Manage daily field service assignments, coordinate customer visits, and complete work independently.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, load‑bank testing, generator startups, and emergency repairs.
  • Troubleshoot alternators, wiring, switches, batteries, control systems, and other generator components.
  • Complete detailed electronic service reports, including findings, equipment readings, photographs, and repair recommendations.
  • Maintain regular communication with service management, dispatch, and customers.
  • Maintain assigned service vehicle, tools, equipment, and inventory.
  • Respond to emergency service calls during assigned on‑call periods, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Follow company safety procedures and applicable industry standards.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 5–10 years of hands‑on experience servicing and repairing commercial or industrial generators.
  • Advanced electrical and mechanical troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of generator controllers, engine management systems, ATS operation, and load‑bank testing.
  • Experience independently diagnosing and repairing complex generator failures beyond routine preventive maintenance.
  • Proficiency using laptops, diagnostic applications, email, and electronic service reporting systems.
  • Ability to connect to generator controllers using communication cables, adapters, and manufacturer‑specific software.
  • Ability to retrieve, interpret, and troubleshoot controller alarms, fault codes, event histories, and operating data.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Strong problem‑solving, time management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accountability, and follow‑through.
