National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking a Roadway Worker In Charge (RWIC) to support railroad flagging services for Class 1 Railroads, Regional Short Lines, Transit Systems, State DOTs, and associated contractors and consultants.
Required EducationHigh School Diploma or Equivalent.
Required ExperienceMinimum 2 years of experience in a railroad-related environment (maintenance of way, flagging, or related safety services).

- Strong technical knowledge in Railroad Engineering, Design, Construction, and Safety.

- Ability to travel for extended periods, sometimes months at a time.
- Ability to complete required Federal, Client, and/or Company specific training.
- Provide jobsite coordination.
- Communicate clearly with dispatchers, train crews, other railroad personnel, and contractor personnel.
- Deliver thorough job briefings at each site.
- Enforce all railroad, state, and federal policies.
- Identify and resolve rule violations in accordance with policies.
- Enforce contractor training requirements.
- Submit daily field reports on contractor and railroad activities.
- Provide on‑track safety in compliance with 49 CFR 214 for all applicable railroads and contractors.
This job operates in a field environment.
Physical DemandsRequirements include speaking, hearing, reading, and writing in English; long‑distance travel; standing for long periods; walking on uneven ground; sight with color and depth perception; tolerance for extreme temperatures; noisy and dusty conditions; and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
