** Job Description
** Be the welcoming face of the Health Department! As a Public Health Office Assistant, you’ll help keep our services running smoothly by assisting patients, managing registration, supporting clerical operations, and maintaining accurate records. You’ll play a vital role in connecting the community to essential health services and ensuring a positive experience for all.

* What You’ll Do:
*** Greet and assist patients in person and by phone
* Register patients, schedule visits, and verify insurance
* Enter and maintain data in state health systems (e.g., MOHSIS, CASA)
* Collect and reconcile payments and maintain accurate records
* Support vaccine inventory and monitor storage temperatures
* Help with reports, mail, supplies, and general office duties
* Provide clerical support at outreach sites and special clinics
* Assist with birth/death certificate processing and voter registration
* Promote a friendly, organized, and professional front office environment

* Minimum Requirements:
*** High school diploma or equivalent
* At least 2 years of clerical, receptionist, or data entry experience (preferably in healthcare or customer service)
* Typing speed of at least 30 wpm and basic Microsoft Office skills
* Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
* Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to multitask effectively

* Preferred Qualifications:
*** Experience with Medicaid billing or vendor communication
* Familiarity with basic billing processes
