Iron Worker​/Steel Fabricator

The Southern Stone Company is seeking a skilled and reliable Iron Worker / Steel Fabricator to join our team. This hybrid position involves both shop-based fabrication and field installation of structural and miscellaneous steel components. The ideal candidate will have experience in welding, cutting, and fabricating steel in a shop environment, as well as erecting and installing steel structures on‑site in compliance with safety and quality standards.

This is a full‑time position that will report to the Quarry Manager. This position is located in Jackson, MO.

• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and technical specifications to accurately fabricate and install steel components.
• Fabricate steel parts through cutting, drilling, welding, grinding, and assembly.
• Operate fabrication equipment including saws, power tools, presses, torches, and welding machines.
• Perform welding (MIG, TIG, Stick) to assemble structural and miscellaneous steel components.
• Safely erect, bolt, and weld steel structures on job sites using cranes, rigging, and hoisting equipment.
• Work at heights to install and secure steel beams, columns, stairs, railings, and other components.
• Conduct inspections to verify alignment, weld quality, and adherence to project specifications.
• Adhere to MSHA regulations and company safety policies, including the use of PPE and fall protection.
• Collaborate with managers and field crews to ensure efficient project completion.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe and organized condition.
• Complete additional tasks assigned by management.

• Previous experience in steel fabrication, welding, and iron work required.
• Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and construction blueprints.
• Skilled in welding, cutting, drilling, and steel assembly techniques.
• Strong knowledge of rigging, hoisting, structural integrities, and steel erection practices.
• Comfortable working outdoors and at elevated heights.
• Physically capable of lifting and positioning heavy steel components.
• Relevant certifications (welding, rigging, MSHA).
• Ability to successfully complete pre‑employment drug screen and background check.
• Must have valid forms of identification.
