About the RoleThis is a long‑term employment opportunity that can be built to fit your schedule – whether as a second job, a consistent part‑time position, or starting part‑time and increasing to full‑time within 30–60 days.
We accept new clients if you currently care for a family member or loved one. Our standard travel radius for client coverage is 15–30 minutes from every employee’s home. DSPs require DoDD certification; candidates with a valid DoDD DSP certificate within the past 12 months will be prioritized, but we will provide training for the right candidates willing to secure certification quickly.
HHA, CNA, or STNA credentials are a plus but not required.
- Deliver direct patient care and support, following the established plan of care.
- Measure and record vital signs and other specified metrics as instructed.
- Assist with personal care tasks and activities of daily living (e.g., bathing, oral hygiene, nail & skin care, shaving, dressing).
- Perform household tasks essential to health care and living at home (e.g., meal preparation, laundry, light housekeeping).
- Assist patients in taking medications under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse (including opening containers and handing medication; does not include administration).
- Identify and report any abnormal findings or changes in the patient’s condition.
- Help with therapy exercises under supervision of our therapists (e.g., range‑of‑motion exercises, ambulation assistance).
- Know and follow infection control policies, including proper hand washing techniques.
- Document care provided and complete all required forms for the client’s records.
- Promote personal safety and a safe environment for clients by observing infection control practices and reporting unsafe situations to the supervisor or case manager.
- Communicate effectively with all members of the interdisciplinary team through verbal reports, staff meetings, and appropriate channels.
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job and treat patients and families with respect.
- Accept and fulfill assignments with the agency, exercising good judgment in accepting assignments.
- Participate in required in‑service programs to meet compliance requirements, and identify learning needs to the agency supervisor.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary.
- DoDD DSP Certificate: valid within the past 12 months or willingness to complete training through our agency.
- 1+ year caregiving experience required; 1+ year DSP/DoDD experience preferred.
- 1+ year in‑home care/home health experience highly preferred; required for HHAs.
- Knowledge of Ohio Board of DoDD rules required for DSPs, a plus for other caregivers.
- Employees must meet all training and/or certification requirements of the State of Ohio.
- Active CPR and First Aid certifications required (or can be renewed before hire date through our agency).
- Willingness to perform light housekeeping in addition to patient care services as needed.
- Demonstrated ability to read, write, and follow a written Plan of Care, including documentation and communication.
- Strong attendance and dependability record with previous employers.
- Good interpersonal skills and compassion for helping others live their best lives.
- Character traits: reliable, honest, professional, compassionate, detail‑oriented, accountable, friendly, and respectful.
