The Manager in Training is responsible for assisting the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties. The role requires a thorough knowledge of each product area or department, and the ability to determine the most effective methods and approaches to achieve the store's goals and initiatives. The Manager in Training upholds policies, procedures, and standards, fully promotes sales and promotions, and serves as an ambassador of Hibbett, creating a unique customer experience that helps acquire and retain long‐time customers.

Supervisory control is assumed in the absence of the Store Manager, and the manager is trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.

• Assist the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett.
• Consult with the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager to establish action plans that accomplish departmental and overall store responsibilities such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
• Assume responsibility for the entire store during the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager.
• Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments when necessary.
• Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability in all departments.
• Direct staff to ensure each department’s responsibilities and standards are completed.
• Keep the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
• Ensure quality customer service is maintained.
• Perform general administrative duties as needed and be trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
• Deliver extraordinary customer service highlighted in the customer service manual, including helping customers as they enter the store and assisting multiple customers during peak periods.
• Promote and sell services and merchandise provided by Hibbett.
• Practice and uphold all Hibbett I City Gear policies, procedures, and standards described in the operations policy manual, personnel policy manual, visual manual, customer service manual, and company memos.
• Protect the company’s assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and reporting potential fraud risk to management and/or appropriate officials.

• Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
• Interview, train, plan, assign, direct work, and resolve problems.

• Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
• 1-3 years of customer service experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
• Self‑starter with the initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
• Strong attention to detail with the capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with precision.
• Team‑player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.
