Provides empathetic pharmacy consulting services to patients regarding the effective use of medications and drug interaction awareness. Offers preventive and clinical healthcare services, including immunizations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcome services. Ensures prescribed medications are compounded, reviewed, dispensed, and verified accurately according to regulatory guidelines and company policies and procedures. Manages an efficient pharmacy workflow and improves pharmacy financials, inventory, and patient experience.
Oversees staff performance, training, and engagement.
- Engage patients by greeting, offering assistance, and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience.
- Model customer‑service best practices and promote Walgreens service traits such as empathy, inclusivity, and proactive assistance.
- Anticipate patient needs and offer relevant services to enhance the pharmacy’s interpersonal role.
- Assist in community events as directed by Store Manager, Healthcare Supervisor, or District Manager.
- Counsel patients on medication use, side effects, interactions, and cost‑effective alternatives.
- Perform pharmacist tasks: compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management.
- Ensure compliance with regulations, company policies, and Good Faith Dispensing requirements.
- Coordinate pharmacy staff scheduling, assign roles, and manage opening and closing procedures.
- Support insurance claim processing and resolve related issues with providers and carriers.
- Perform clinical services such as immunizations, diagnostic testing, and disease‑state management.
- Maintain and improve the pharmacy’s physical layout, equipment, and hygiene standards.
- Prepare required records and reports to satisfy state and federal laws.
- Collaborate with Store Manager on hiring, discipline, career progression, and employee relations.
- Provide training, coaching, and performance reviews for pharmacy staff.
- Maintain current licensing and certifications in pharmacy and healthcare services.
- Keep up‑to‑date knowledge of pharmacy practice and business acumen through reading and training.
- Support the Store Manager by communicating corporate health initiatives to staff.
- Analyze pharmacy performance data and implement improvements.
- Build relationships with local medical providers and promote pharmacy growth opportunities.
- BS in Pharmacy or Pharm
D Degree from an accredited institution. - Current pharmacist licensure in the state(s) within the district.
- Certified Immunizer or willingness to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.
- At least 1 year of pharmacy experience, including prescription filling, record‑keeping, legal compliance, operations, software, and insurance billing.
- Strong working knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.
- Leadership rating of 3.0+ on the last performance review (no disciplinary actions in the last 12 months) – internal candidates only.
- Supervisory experience planning and directing pharmacy staff.
- At least 6 months of experience with Walgreens.
- Leadership rating of 3.7+ on the last performance review – internal candidates only.
