Position: ASSISTANT SALES MANAGER

ASSISTANT SALES MANAGER – Dufresne Spencer Group, LLC dba Ashley

Airbed, Mattress & Furniture retailer Ashley seeks an assistant sales manager to support the Sales Manager in daily operations and lead store teams. The role involves managing showroom departments, analyzing sales data, coaching staff, and maintaining a high‑quality guest experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all showroom departments under Sales Manager direction.
  • Review sales metrics (margins, volume, quotas, closing ratios) and suggest future goals.
  • Assist the Sales Manager with customer issues escalated beyond Guest Experience Manager.
  • Coordinate with the Visual Presentation Manager on product placement.
  • Communicate policy changes and other information to staff.
  • Provide leadership to sales, guest experience, and visual teams.
  • Coach staff toward individual and team success.
  • Understand budgeted administrative costs (wages, supplies).
  • Assess employee performance and provide relevant assistance.
  • Ensure complete documentation of procedures and completed tasks.
  • Produce timely reports.
  • Aide hiring, training, and coaching of the sales team.
  • Help prepare and administer performance evaluations for assigned staff.
  • Maintain effective, timely communication.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • High School diploma required.
  • College degree in business preferred.
  • Strong understanding of company Mission, Core Values, Customer Belief System, Differentiators, and Disciplines.
  • Current or prior retail sales experience.
  • Completed orientation and proven sustained success in the current role.
  • Consistent execution of defined job functions.
  • Zero disciplinary documentation.
  • One year of prior management experience preferred.
  • Willingness to relocate as needed.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Flexibility to work retail hours including evenings, holidays, weekends, and travel when required.
  • Exceptional communication and team‑building skills.
